Zavalla ISD strives to identify at every grade students who perform at or show the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment whom exhibit high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area; possess an unusual capacity for leadership; or excel in a specific academic field.   gifted and talented

With this goal in mind, and in compliance with state rules, the final selection of students is made with a District Selection Committee made up of teachers, the counselor, and administrators who have received training in the area of gifted education.

The Zavalla ISD Gifted/Talented Program is designed for students who are identified as gifted and talented according to state guidelines and Zavalla ISD’s identification procedure.  Emphasis is placed on providing a learning environment and activities that foster the development of skills in the areas of higher thinking, problem solving, and communication.
